Does your home have no ductwork and you're looking for a better way to cool your home? Are there warm spots in your home that needs something else to help evenly condition the air? Mini splits are a great ductless option to make your entire home comfortable throughout the year.
Today we're going to break down some of the most asked questions we get from homeowners like you about mini splits so you can see if they're the right option for you.
What is a mini split?
It's a ductless heating and cooling solution. It uses an outdoor air conditioner or heat pump that's connected to an indoor head or air handler that's mounted in your home to condition the air.
Who is a mini split a good fit for?
Homes without ductwork. Homes with rooms or areas that do not get enough heating or cooling from their main system, and homeowners looking to add an addition to their home.
How many indoor heads would I need in my home? Do I need one in every room?
In some cases, you do not need one in every room. You may need them in most rooms if the home is broken into small rooms. Open floor plans may be able to get away with less.
What is involved in a mini split install?
We would need to install the outdoor unit. Install the heads inside your home to condition the air. Run refrigerant lines from the outdoor unit to the heads, and run electrical wire to the outdoor unit as well as the heads.
How long does a mini split last?
Average lifespan is 10 to 15 years with proper maintenance.
What is the expected maintenance with a mini split?
Yearly check ups to ensure there are no damaged parts that can affect the lifespan or the efficiency. You should clean the filter on the indoor head once a month.
How much does a mini split cost?
There are several factors that need to be taken into account. The efficiency level of the mini split, the type of mini split, the number of indoor heads and the location of those indoor heads. Average price typically falls between $3,000 to $7,000 per head.
