Out of all of our services, unclogging drains is probably the most common issue we help homeowners with. So many pesky problems can arise due to a ton of different issues that most people inevitably deal with drain problems a few times every year. Sometimes they don’t go away unless you replace the whole infrastructure. Here are a few signs that you have drain issues, and what to do when you notice them.
The obvious one: sink backup
This one is the most obvious, but it needed to be included. If the drain is constantly backing up into the sink, then you are going to have some big problems. Not only is it mildly disgusting, it could also end up being an expensive problem with the pipes. We recommend taking a plunger to it and trying to get it to go back down, and then calling professionals to come take a look right away to assure that it doesn’t happen again.
Bad smells
If you notice foul odors coming from your sink or other areas of the home that use drains, then this is a sure sign that something is not right down there. The foul smells are from household waste getting stuck in the drain and festering. If you smell them, first check the garbage and fridge since they are the two most likely candidates. From there, you should go check the drain. If you do smell it, pour some cleaner down the drain to erase the smell and then call us to come take a look to make sure the problem isn’t getting worse.
Loud gurgling sounds
You know the sounds that people make when using mouthwash? If you start hearing that same gurgling sounds coming from your sink, toilet, or other drains, then you need to act quickly. This could be a sign that the drains are clogging up, or worse, a sign that you have a main sewer line issue. We can come perform a thorough inspection of all of your drains to make sure that nothing is wrong.
Your drains are essential to your home’s sanitation, and when they become clogged, it can lead to wasted water, bad smells, and practical issues that can make your life difficult. It can be tempting to ignore them since drains don’t seem like a big deal, but you can’t make the mistake of ignoring these signs that you have drain issues. Call Mattoni Plumbing right away.
