What does HVAC maintenance include?
HVAC maintenance breaks down into two main areas, air conditioning tune ups and heating tune ups. For air conditioning tune ups, we focus on inspecting and cleaning several key components. This includes, but isn’t limited to, the indoor and outdoor coils, the drain line, electrical parts, the blower wheel, and of course the air filter. Heat pump and furnace tune ups are pretty similar. We check and clean the heat exchanger, ignition components, venting, blower wheel, and replace the air filter. For boilers, we inspect and clean the heat exchanger, venting, ignition components, and the piping to ensure everything’s working efficiently.
How often should my HVAC system be serviced?
Your system should be serviced twice a year, once for your air conditioning system and once for your heating system.
What’s the best time to schedule HVAC maintenance?
Honestly, as long as you’re getting both your heating and cooling serviced once a year, the timing isn’t critical. That said, it’s often easier to get an appointment in the spring or fall when fewer emergency service calls are coming in to your HVAC service provider.
How does HVAC maintenance benefit my system?
There are a lot of benefits. Regular maintenance helps you avoid expensive breakdowns by catching problems early. It also keeps your system running efficiently, which means a longer lifespan and fewer repairs. And, by cleaning the system and replacing filters, you’re improving the air quality in your home, getting rid of dust and allergens.
Is there any HVAC maintenance I should do myself?
Yeah. If you have a forced air system, make sure to change the air filter every few months. It’ll help your system run more efficiently, last longer, and keep the air in your home cleaner.
How can I save money on HVAC maintenance?
